Picking up where the leaves left off
Residents of the Midwest know that the last of the autumn leaves have been whipped off the trees this past week. Seemingly commiserate with the dropping leaves, my hair too has begun to fall. Fortunately, I am not one of those whose hair is coming out in "clumps"; instead, 5-10 strands come out every time I run my fingers through it. Intriguingly, none of the hairs have roots. I suppose this makes sense, that the root was killed by chemotherapy and so the rootless hair falls out, but the result is striking nonetheless. So far the hair loss is not really bothering me, probably because hair prevails on my head. I'm sure after a few days, after the remaining wisps of hair have lost all familiarity, the hair-loss adventure will grow wearisome.

I can't wait to see your gorgeous face, whether there is hair to frame it or not. Just about a week to go before we see you. Hope you all are having a nice time with your mom.
ReplyDeleteFor those that may not know....my mom, Heather's grandma Kati, had breast cancer too,(a different type, however). She has re-gifted a special bag containing beautiful hats. Many of which Heather made herself. Azalea has now coined a new name for a somewhat familiar object...what are those funny looking things? "hair hats Grandma". No wigs for Heather but maybe on a very cold fall day she could be wearing a "hairhat"!
ReplyDeleteI thought you looked quite smashing in the black hat you wore today!

ReplyDeleteI think heather can totally rock a "hair hat" anytime!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so beautiful Heather - nothing will ever change that. BTW - if you are not feeling well, but up to some bad TV, L from D sent season one of a popular television show home with me - I gotta admit - it's funny.
ReplyDeleteWhat about a hair helmet?
ReplyDeleteI have an excellent purple wig and an excellent pink wing that are yours whenever you'd like them.:)xx And as Heidi suggested, the purple one would be perfect for your dad's wedding!
